Hi, everyone!

Hi, everyone!

In this first post, I will include the information which I turned in to register the club. Feel free to use it as you fill out your CAS Forms.

Creative Writing Club

Purpose:
This club will enhance the abilities of its members to write creatively. We are going to read various pieces of literature, identify the specific writing styles and unique expressions, and learn how to apply them in our own creative writing. Then, we will share what we have written using the new ideas.

Mission:
The members are going to explore the realm of creative writing and contribute to the ACS society by sharing their works by publishing them in The Fountain.

By-Laws:

1. Elections for Persons of Responsibility
The members of the club vote in order to elect one person that they wish to occupy a position of a presiding officer, i.e. President. Then, Vice President and Secretary are elected. A person is allowed to vote for him/herself. Students that are not a part of the club are not allowed to vote. The club advisor should express her agreement/disagreement with the choice of the officers. He/she can decide that re-voting is necessary if there are important reasons.

2. Officers’ Duties
President:
• Assisting the advisor in choosing and organizing club activities;
• Helping the secretary with the monthly accounting for the club’s activities;
• Solving problems that occur during the club’s functioning (with the help of the advisor);
Vice President:
• Helping the President with organizational issues;
• Taking the President’s place (e.g. guiding discussions with the help of the advisor) should the President be absent;
Secretary:
• Preparing the monthly accounting for the club’s activities;
• Helping the President and the Vice President with any paperwork or organizational issues when necessary.
3. Membership
A student can be a member if he/she is devoted to the club, attends meetings often (see ‘Rules for Dismissing Members’), expresses a desire to work, takes part in discussions and club activities, and shares ideas for the club’s development.

4. Meeting Times
The meetings will take place on Monday.

5. Meeting Place
The meeting place will be Mr. Greenwell’s classroom, Ostrander 209.

6. Rules for Dismissing Members
• Minimum attendance: 80% of the meetings;
• A member should not violate any of the behavior rules of ACS while the club’s activities take place;
• A member should not prevent another member from learning and improving.

Activities:
The club is going to meet once a week. During the meetings, we are going to read and discuss in order to point out all the significant elements in the works. At home, we are going to write and at the next meeting, bring in what we wrote. Thus, we are going to experiment with different styles and tones to enrich our diction. We are going to make submissions to the Fountain in their autumn edition as well as in the next ones.
At our first meeting, we chose some topics for discussion and brainstormed works to read. Mr. Greenwell agreed to help us find inspiring works, as he has a wider knowledge than ours of pieces presenting different themes. Naturally, he is going to guide our discussions, but we will shape them ourselves; the idea is that we will be a part of an intellectual workshop, so interpretations and innovations will be welcome at any time.

As soon as Kalina sends me a link to the short story for next week, I will upload it here.

Kalina, if you want to, you can simply create a post with the link; if not, send it to me.

Ok, guys, see you soon =)

One more thing: look at this :D
